GCC EMERGENCY GRANT

The Glendale Community College emergency grant program is designed to help eligible students facing a financial emergency or hardship that may impede academic progress in a student’s education at Glendale Community College.

IMPORTANT - Please Read Fully Before Applying:

  • Application deadline: Sunday, April 23, 2023 AT 11:59PM (no exceptions)
  • After submitting, you will see a confirmation page and receive a confirmation email (if you don't see a confirmation page, that means you didn't submit the application).
  • Students can only apply 1 time in Spring 2023 (the system will automatically reject all future attempts to apply)
  • Students will receive decisions approximately June 12, 2023

ELIGIBILITY:

Credit Students

  • Enrolled in 6+ units for Spring 2023 (waitlisted and dropped classes are not counted)
  • Receiving the CCPG/BOG Fee Waiver Based on Income
  • Must be exempt from paying non-resident tuition (out-of-state and international students are not eligible)
  • One of the following immigration statuses:
    • U.S. Citizen
    • U.S. Permanent Resident
    • Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) showing: "Refugee," "Asylum Granted," Cuban-Haitian Entrant," "Conditional Entrant Issues Prior to 4/1/1980", or "Parolee for at least 1 Year"
    • T nonimmigrant status ("T-visa") (for victims of human trafficking) or your parent holds a T-1 nonimmigrant status
    • You are a “battered immigrant-qualified alien” who is a victim of abuse by your citizen or permanent resident spouse, or you are the child of a person designated as such under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).*
    • You are a citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau
  • Undocumented or AB540 or DACA students with 1+ year of CA Residency – Even though you do not qualify for the Spring 2023 GCC Emergency Grant, you are still welcome to apply by the deadline. If GCC CARES is able to find another type of funding, we will process your application.
  • Earned a 2.0 GPA in one of the prior three semesters (either at GCC or other institution) or have an eligible reason for not earning this GPA.

Non-Credit Students:

  • Awards issued after you complete 90+ hours of positive attendance in Spring 2023
  • Low-income with California residency of at least 1 year
  • One of the following immigration statuses:
    • U.S. Citizen
    • U.S. Permanent Resident
    • Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) showing: "Refugee," "Asylum Granted," Cuban-Haitian Entrant," "Conditional Entrant Issues Prior to 4/1/1980", or "Parolee for at least 1 Year"

Both Credit & Non-Credit Students:

Additional eligibility criteria applies to all emergency grant application submissions, including prior academic performance. We will notify you of the grant decision once the grant is processed.

Please Note: Funding for this program is limited. Not all students who meet the minimum eligibility criteria will be awarded. Grant awards are anticipated to be no more than $300, but this may be adjusted based on the number of eligible applicants.

Approvals will only be sent after ALL applications are processed. We anticipate this to be on or before June 12, 2023.

Rejections and requests for information will be sent to some applicants.

You will have 3 days to respond or appeal the decision.

Failure to respond will result in disqualification from the program.

If a check is owed, it will be mailed to the mailing address listed on MyGCC.
