Financial Aid
Unit Probation and Dismissal
Each semester you are responsible for
completing the number units for which you receive financial aid. At the end of the summer term if you have
dropped or failed a course (received
a grade of F, NC, W, I or IP)
during the previous
school year (the prior Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer semesters)
for which you received financial aid, you will be placed on Financial Aid
Unit Probation status.
If you do not successfully complete the
total number of units for which you received financial aid for two
consecutive academic years during which you received financial
aid or if you do not successfully complete any units in any
courses for which you received financial aid for two semesters in
one award year, you will be placed on Financial Aid Unit
Dismissal and will become ineligible for further student aid
(except for BOG fee waivers) until you make up the units. Your eligibility
can be reinstated after you have successfully completed the total number of units owed. You will not be eligible for
financial aid during the period that you are making up units.
It is your responsibility to notify the Financial Aid Office and
provide documentation that you have made up any unit deficits before
your financial aid eligibility can be reinstated. Written

Financial Aid Term Dismissal Appeal process
To regain eligibility you should
explain (in detail) all mitigating circumstances beyond your
control, such as illness or changes in work schedule, which
prevented you from completing your program within your progress unit
limit. Not all appeals are approved.
You will be notified in writing of the results of your appeal.
Some appeals may be referred to the Satisfactory Academic Progress committee for further review. If your
appeal is approved, your eligibility for financial aid will be reinstated
as of the semester that your appeal was submitted to the Financial
Aid Office. You will be given a Financial Aid course contract
and only courses that are required for completion of your degree
or certificate will be counted toward your financial aid eligibility.
No repeat courses (courses in which you previously received
a grade or a W)
will be approved. You must successfully complete all
contract courses to remain eligible for financial aid.
