FAFSA
on the Web
allows you to enter your Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) on line. Completing your FAFSA on the Web
can save you approximately two weeks of processing time when
compared to using the paper FAFSA. If you have general or
technical questions about FAFSA on the Web you can call
800-433-3243 (TTY 800-730-8913) for assistance.
The
U.S. Department of Education's
PIN
Registration Site
allows a student or parent to register for a PIN code. Similar to
a Personal Identification Number you might have for your
ATM
or credit card, your PIN code from the Dept. of Education
can be used to access a variety of federal aid websites.
For example, your PIN code can be used in place of a signature
for completing a
FAFSA
on the Web, or it can be used to access your student
loan records with the
National
Student Loan Data System
(NSLDS).
You can contact PIN Customer Service at 800-433-3243 (TTY
800-730-8913).
The
U.S. Department of Education's
National
Student Loan Data System
allows a student to view information about federal financial
aid they receive at all colleges they attend.
In order to access your information, you will need to register
for a PIN (see information above regarding
PIN
Registration). For questions about a loan or grant,
or for technical support, contact the Federal Student Aid
Information Center at 800-433-3243 (TTY 800-730-8913).
The
Selective Service
site allows you to register on-line. Registration is mandatory
for almost all males between the ages of 18 and 25, and any
males who are required to register must do so before receiving
any form of federal or state financial aid. If you have questions
regarding the Selective Service contact them at 847-688-6888.
The
California Student Aid Commission (CSAC)
administers the State of California's financial aid programs
including Cal Grants.
If you have questions about the state financial aid programs
you can contact CSAC at 888-CA-GRANT (888-224-7268) or click
on their logo the left.
EdFund
is one of the largest guarantee agencies that works with the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). This
program includes Federal Parent (PLUS)
loans and Federal Stafford loans. If you have questions regarding
student loans you can contact EdFund at 877-2-EDFUND (877-233-3863),
or click on the graphic to the right to go to their website.
ScholarShare
is a tax
deferred college savings plan designed to help California
families save in order to meet the increasing costs of college.
Contributions are federally tax-deferred and state tax-exempt.
ScholarShare also has responsibility for coordinating the
Governor's Scholarship program for eligible California students.

EdWise
is an online financial planning guide created by EdFund. It
is a tool that assists students by helping them take charge
of the process by determining how much to borrow for college.
It also helps students develop a budget based on their expected
expenses and income. To go to their website, click on their
logo to the left.

The SmartStudent
Guide to Financial Aid was created by Mark Kantrowitz. This
site contains a wide variety of general information about
financial aid. Also, the site contains many links to free
scholarship searches, colleges and other organizations
related to higher education.
EduPASS!
The SmartStudent
Guide to Studying in the USA was created by Mark Kantrowitz.
This site contains information for students from other countries
who plan to study at a college or university in the United
States. The site offers in formation about admissions, financial
aid, and other topics related to college life.
Loan
Locator
is an on line service offered by the National Student Clearinghouse.
Through this website, you can track the holder or owner of
your student loans.
The
Internal Revenue Service
and the
California
Franchise Tax Board websites offer a plethora of information
regarding income tax law, forms, publications, and other related
topics. The websites are invaluable during tax filing season
as you can download many forms from the
internet.
