In 1983, a group of dedicated community volunteers came together on behalf
of Glendale Community College and created the Glendale College Foundation.
Their vision—to establish a charitable foundation that would support
college facilities and programs and build public awareness of the
college—is today’s reality.
The Foundation, which recently celebrated
its 23rd
anniversary,
now
achieves its goals through various fundraising programs and special
events. It has an endowment of almost $8 million, with more than 350 funds
that support scholarships, facilities and programs. Through its public
information programs, the Foundation gives community groups an inside look
at the college. A distinguished and active thirty-five member Board of
Directors provides steady guidance and support and formulates the policies, goals, and directions of the foundation.
Objectives of the foundation are: to create public awareness of
the needs of the college; to promote the college to business and industry and the greater
Glendale community; and to raise funds for facilities and programs.
