Greetings from the International Student Office at Glendale Community College! On behalf of the College and the entire campus community, we would like to welcome you to our Web site and the following pages specifically designed for international visa students. We trust you will find this information helpful in introducing you to the various academic programs and student services at Glendale Community College.
Glendale Community College has a strong tradition and commitment to servicing students from other countries. During the Academic Year, the College enrolls approximately 500 International F-1 visa students (each Semester) from over 60 countries. The International Student Program is here to assist you with admission and enrollment information, new student orientation (each Semester), immigration advising, academic advising and class registration. The office is also involved in issues related to off-campus housing & "homestays," health insurance plan coverage and student activities. International students at Glendale are an active part of the campus community and are encouraged to participate in student government, clubs, athletics and other extracurricular organizations.
Academically, Glendale Community College is a fully accredited two-year college and is considered one of the more attractive locations within the California system of community colleges. Students can choose from 75 academic majors and a wide variety of general education courses. Credit ESL classes are also available as part of the regular course schedule for students needing additional English language instruction. The Program can enroll new students for both Associate Degree studies and for Academic "Credit ESL" English language studies.
Many qualified students who attend Glendale Community College are able to transfer to a four-year university after completing 60 units of semester credit toward their undergraduate program. In fact, Glendale has one of the highest community college "transfer rates" in California. You will also find lower tuition rates and smaller class sizes compared to most four-year universities.
