103 Keyboard Harmony (2 Unit)
Music 103 is designed for students who have a basic knowledge of music and music notation. Students review bass and treble clefs, notes and note values, meter and key signatures. Students identify notes on a piano keyboard, and develop a basic understanding of melody, harmony and rhythm. In addition, students learn basic piano technique and begin the study of harmony in the context of the piano keyboard. These concepts are used in the analysis and performance of musical exercises and literature. This course prepares students for advanced harmony and musicianship classes. Lecture 2 hour, laboratory 1 hour. Prerequisite: None. Transfer credit: CSU, UC, USC
