FOR EOPS CONTINUED PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER AND COMPLETE AT LEAST 6 UNITS PER SEMESTER
Beginning Spring 2010 semester, continuing EOPS students who register in less than 6.00 units in a single semester (Fall/Spring) without prior written authorization from their counselor, will be exited from the program after the add/drop deadline for 16 week classes. For the purposes of meeting this requirement, spring semester and winter intersession units cannot be combined. In cases of extenuating circumstances, students’ registration in less than 6.00 units must be authorized by the EOPS or CSD counselor, and no more than 1 semester will be allowed for this exception. The Add/Drop deadline for Spring 2010 is February 27th, 2010.

New Rule - Beginning fall 2009 the counseling contact deadline for both, book voucher and grant eligibility, will be on the same date. It will be the last Friday before the deadline to withdraw from 16 week classes. EOPS students must complete three counseling contacts by this deadline to be considered for EOPS grant award and book voucher. This includes CSD 1 and Scholars students who need to bring a study list or an updated SEP from their counselor in these programs. Students in Student Development 100 class also need to make their one required contact by this deadline.
Three counseling contacts are required per semester, fall and spring, regardless of your registration status, (ex. being registered in less than 12 units), or your academic standing (being on probation)
For fall 2009 grant and winter 2010/spring 2010 book voucher consideration complete three counseling contacts by Friday, November 20th, 2009; have financial aid processed and awarded by November 21st, 2009.
Students in Student Development 100 also need to make their one required counseling contact by this deadline.
EOPS students enrolled in 12 or more units* after November 21st, 2009 with a minimum overall GPA of at least 2.0 and not on progress probation, whose financial aid has been processed and awarded by November 21st, 2009 may be considered for fall 09 EOPS grant, and winter 2010/spring 2010 book voucher/s.
*NOTE: CSD 1 students who have a CSD counselor Fall 09 study list/SEP with a recommended load below 12 units are exempt from this requirement.
Counseling Contact Requirement Rule: During any semester/intersession students may see a counselor as many times as needed, however, only one contact per week will be counted towards meeting this requirement.
Important Reminder – all EOPS students must have one (1) counseling contact with the EOPS office in winter and one (1) counseling contact in summer if taking classes during those terms.

EOPS and CARE financial assistance may be available to EOPS/CARE students who in addition to meeting all EOPS /CARE program eligibility requirements are financially eligible to receive these services. The determination is based on individual student’s financial aid award and the remaining financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Students must have completed all financial aid forms and requirements and have received their Financial Aid Award Notification for remaining need to be determined. CARE students must meet additional CARE program eligibility requirements to qualify for CARE financial support. All EOPS and CARE awards are contingent upon EOPS/CARE Program funding availability.
IMPORTANT!! Beginning Summer 2009 student book vouchers will be available online. We will no longer be mailing book vouchers to your postal mailing address. As of June 17th, 2009, all information from the GCC EOPS office will be sent to you by email. We will also use email to send you information about your book voucher and grant eligibility. An email with instructions on how to access the online Book Voucher with start and end dates of use and other important information regarding the policies on EOPS book voucher and EOPS grant will be sent on June 18th.
