2. Figure out your math pathway
Once you know which math courses you are eligible to start with, you need to identify your educational goal. We offer different math pathways depending on which level of math you need to reach based on your major and academic goals.
To determine which path best fits your needs, please consider the follow:
- Are you planning to major in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and you will need to take Calculus and beyond? If yes, then Path #1 (STEM -Calculus) will fit your needs.
- Are you planning on majoring in a STEM field that does not require Calculus? If yes, then Path #2 (STEM - College Algebra) will likely fit your goals.
- Are you a Business majors? If yes, you will want to consider Path #3 (Business) for your math path.
- Are you planning to major in a subject area that requires Statistics? If yes, then Path #4 (SLAM - Statistics) will fit your needs.
- Are you transferring to a four-year university that only requires that you fulfill a general math requirement? Are you planning on earning an Associate Degree or Certificate at GCC that only requires that you fulfill a general math requirement? If yes to either of these questions, then one of the Statistics and Liberal Arts Math (SLAM) paths is most likely a good fit. Please explore Path #4, Path #5, and Path #6 below to determine which path works best for you.
