This 2-week winter session program explores the geography of New Zealand and Australia. Coursework includes Geography Field Studies (1 unit) and Walking for Health & Fitness (1 unit) taught by GCC professors Michael Reed and Erin Calderone. The program starts with a stroll around Auckland’s waterfront and viaduct before taking the ferry to the nearby cafés of Devonport. We head south by coach to explore the world-famous glow worm caves in Waitomo, the Hobbiton movie set in Matamata and the Te Puia thermal park in Rotorua. We then fly to Queenstown the ‘adrenaline capital of the world’, with lovely lakeside and mountain hikes and a wonderful day trip to Milford Sound. Our last leg of the journey takes us to Sydney, Australia where we explore the city’s landscape including the bridge and opera house, the famous beaches of Bondi and Coogee and a day trip to the Blue Mountains.
