TRANSFER TIMELINES

Fall Admission

AUGUST 1: Application opens.

SEPTEMBER 1–30: Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) application filing period.

OCTOBER 1–DECEMBER 2: Application filing period.

DECEMBER 15–JANUARY 31: Transfer Academic Update (TAU) submission period for applicants to report final fall grades and in progress or planned coursework (priority deadline is January 31). Some UCs require supplemental applications to be submitted.

DECEMBER-MARCH 2: Priority application filing deadline for financial aid. Students should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or CA Dream Act Application (CADAA), depending on eligibility. GCC submits your GCC GPA to Cal Grant automatically; therefore, there is no need for the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form if GCC was your only college of attendance. 

FEBRUARY-MAY 10: Meet with a counselor to apply for any associate degrees you qualify for, including the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT). If you are completing IGETC requirements, you should also apply for the IGETC certificate.   

MARCH 1-MAY 1: Admission decisions released.

JUNE 1: Deadline for admitted UC students to submit Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) and non-refundable deposit.

JULY 1: Final, official transcripts must be sent to the UC campus admissions office. Transcripts must be postmarked or electronically submitted on or before July 1.

JULY 15: Official AP/IB exam scores must be sent to the campus admissions office. Exam scores must be postmarked or electronically submitted on or before July 15.

JULY: Most schools request IGETC or CSU GE Breadth certification during this time. If you have not already done so, apply for GE certification. You can request GE certification when ordering your transcript through Admissions & Records.

Winter/Spring Admission

Spring Admission

AUGUST 1–31: Application filing period for some CSU campuses.

NOVEMBER: Deadline for admitted students to submit an Intent to Register and/or an Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) for most CSUs.

AUGUST 1: Application opens for fall admission only.

DECEMBER 1: Application deadline for some majors requiring a portfolio or audition: Kaufman School of Dance, School of Cinematic Arts – BFA programs only, School of Dramatic Arts – BFA programs only, and Thornton School of Music.

FEBRUARY 15: Deadline to submit application for all other programs (including Business). USC requests that official high school and college transcripts be received around the February 15 deadline.

OCTOBER 1-MARCH 3: Application filing deadline for submitting the CSS Profile. The Profile, along with your FAFSA information, will help determine your eligibility for USC student aid funds.

DECEMBER-MARCH 3: Application filing deadline for federal financial aid. Students should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). AB540 eligible students should fill out the CA Dream Act Application (CADAA). GCC submits your GCC GPA to Cal Grant automatically; therefore, there is no need for the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form if GCC was your only college of attendance. 

MAY 31: You will receive an admission decision OR a request for more information, such as spring grades, by this date.

JUNE 1: Admitted transfer students must commit to USC by June 1 OR within two weeks of receiving their decision, whichever is later.

MID-JULY: Further admission decisions will be released on a rolling basis, between late May and mid-July, as requests for more information are fulfilled and reviewed.

Many private and out-of-state universities offer fall and spring admission. Check their websites to find application deadlines and requirements. You should also research deadlines for scholarships and create a calendar to keep track of them.
