My name is Monica Hilario. I have been an educator for the past ten years. I am currently an elementary school teacher for the Glendale Unified School District and a college instructor both in Glendale Community College (Credit ESL Department) and UCLA Extension. I graduated from UCLA and completed my M.A. in Education at Pepperdine University. Having the opportunity to work at high-quality educational institutions has improved my instructional strategies and developed my leadership skills. I am passionate about literacy and integrating high-quality literature in the curriculum for students. I enjoy working with children and adults.
I implement my experience, knowledge, innovation and cutting-edge instructional practices with adult learners who are learning the English language. I enjoy working with adults because they bring a wealth of life experiences, cultural backgrounds and enthusiasm that enrich the course.
I believe that it is crucial for students to acquire the skills and appreciation for literature in order to become lifelong readers and writers. In addition to teaching, I also enjoy reading and writing picture books, traveling and gardening.
