Biography:
Alvard Uzunyan has been teaching Armenian Language and Literature at GCC since 2007. Moreover, since 2018, she’s been the new Armenian program director at Los Angeles City College. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Armenian Language and Literature from Yerevan State University of Armenia. Since immigrating to U.S. in 2004, Alvard has been actively involved in cultural affairs of the local Armenian community. She has published numerous articles in Armenian magazines, as well as, scripted and hosted TV shows.
Additionally, in 2016 Alvard received a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from California State University Los Angeles. Aside from Armenian courses, she has taught ESL courses at Los Angeles Valley College. Finally, being a certified Distance Education instructor, she has been designing both Armenian and ESL online courses.
Alvard’s teaching style is a combination of traditional methods with modern ones. Her students describe her both as a classroom authority and a friendly facilitator. Most of all, students love her for her enthusiasm and 100% commitment to teaching.
