Who am I?

A first-generation college product!  A proud GCC alumnus who transferred to Cal State University Los Angeles followed by Cal State Long beach, so I am as local as possible!   

After graduating, I worked as a geologist.  Now, I am a geologist and an earth science instructor who teaches various earth science courses such as geology, oceanography, natural disasters, physical science, and environmental geology and other earth science. I have earned bachelor and master degrees in geology. 

Before getting into teaching, I was working as a professional geologist at various engineering and consultant firms throughout southern California, so I would love to bring that side of real-life experience to the class and share it with you! 

For the last six years, I’ve been doing what I love the most, teaching earth science courses and helping students accomplish their educational goals, while maintaining interest in the classroom by using varied teaching approaches and presenting examples relevant to the student’s field of application. Distance learning and online education is in its infancy, but the best techniques will be applied to our class to ensure that you all have a rewarding educational experience.

When I am not teaching or developing new courses, I enjoy hiking and camping at the beach, in the mountains or deserts, or do recreation activity such as sand volleyball and soccer. 

Being out in nature is very satisfying to me and the exercise and fresh air are invigorating. I also enjoy travelling as I visited over 52 countries across six continents, and I speak/know multiple languages, so ask me questions! 

I've worked very hard to put this course together, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge of Earth with you.
