On Campus Vaccine Requirement
The vaccination requirement is now in effect for anyone wishing to work or attend classes at GCC facilities. Students and staff were given more than two months to get fully vaccinated before the October 31 deadline. Students who missed the deadline are being administratively dropped from their in-person classes with an EW (Excused Withdrawal). All GCC employees, including those working remotely, are required to be fully vaccinated by December 21. Click here for more information regarding how to get vaccinated.
Building Heroes
By combining their expertise and connections, GCC’s Biology Division, Nursing Program and Career Services are opening doors for GCC students interested in the medical field. Eight students are now enrolled in an internship program at Glendale Memorial Hospital where they are earning college credit in Biology and income as student workers. More importantly, they are gaining a broad overview of healthcare fields and professions including doctor mentorships. The students will also be exposed to several departments including surgery. Another example of GCC creating a bridge to our students’ futures.

Women's Cross Country Team is Again Conference Champs
The GCC Women’s Cross Country Team has once again won the Western State Conference at a meet hosted by Glendale on Oct. 22 at Whittier Narrows Recreation Center.
Long considered one of the best running programs in the state, the teams coached by Eddie Lopez are highly ranked in the state and Southern California once again this year. The women, who are ranked No. 3 in the state's California Community College Track Coaches Association poll and ranked No. 2 in Southern California, have won 15 consecutive WSC Titles since 2005. Coach Lopez said of hosting the WSC meet, “"I was proud of what the teams accomplished but as important was the kind of meet we put on as the host school. We had great support from Associate Dean Chris Cicuto, Kinesiology Division Chair Jon Gold, our staff and volunteers, especially the members of our track teams. I am grateful for the things I have learned from retired coaches Jim Sartortis, John Cicuto and Tom MacMurray about how to put on events and the best way to represent Glendale College and I think we did that.''
The 2021 Cross Country season concludes with the Southern California Championships Friday, November 5 and the State Championships November 19.
