President's Welcome Letter

President's Welcome Letter (pdf)

August 29, 2022

Dear Students,

On behalf of our faculty and staff, welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. We are honored that you have chosen Glendale Community College and we are here to support your success with commitment and care. Whether you are taking courses remote or in person, we are excited to offer even more on-campus experiences and support for the fall semester.

We know that the start of a new school year can be a challenging time of transition for students. We want you to get off to a strong start, so I encourage you to take advantage of the following services.

Welcome Center
An information hub located at SM266 where staff are available to help students access college resources, navigate campus and connect with GCC. Go to glendale.edu/gcc for in-person and virtual hours.

Counseling Services
Our counselors are here to help you achieve your academic goals and individual pursuits. They are available to assist with academic planning, career decision-making, life planning and personal and intra-personal concerns. To learn more about seeing a counselor by appointment, drop-in or online go to glendale.edu/counseling.

Textbooks and Supplies
The Glendale College Bookstore is a convenient source for your textbook rentals and purchases, digital course materials, and school supplies. It is located on the first floor of the Student Center at the top of Plaza Vaquero. You can also order online. More information and hours of operation can be found at glendale.edu/bookstore.

Free Parking Permits
GCC is offering free parking for the entire fall semester. However, you must display a parking permit in your vehicle to avoid being ticketed. We have plenty of parking in the Upper Campus in the Main Parking Structure and the open air Lot B. There are multiple City-owned parking lots right across N. Verdugo Road that honor the GCC student parking permit. You can pick up your free parking permit at the Tuition Office (SV314) on the 3rd floor of Sierra Vista.

GCC GoPass (Free to all students)
We are happy to announce this year that we are offering the GCC GoPass to all students. The GCC GoPass will allow you to travel on all L.A. Metro buses and trains, Glendale Beeline buses and nearly ten other municipal transits. Be sure to register to get your pass which you can use to get to school, to work, or just for fun.

As you begin the fall semester do not hesitate to ask for assistance from college employees and campus staff. We are ready to answer your questions or guide you in the right direction.

Best of luck and Go Vaqs!

Dr. Ryan Cornner
GCC Superintendent/President
