Working Safely During the Pandemic
As GCC’s remote learning environment continues through the summer session and into the fall semester it’s important to note that several of our colleagues continue to work on campus. Whether you visit campus daily or infrequently, remember to wear a mask, wash your hands often, and practice social distancing. If you experience COVID-19 symptoms or have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for the Coronavirus, DO NOT REPORT TO WORK. Instead, contact your health care provider and your immediate supervisor.
Human Resources has created the following protocols that outline employee and supervisor responsibilities. Click here for Human Resources related COVID-19 information.
New Website Features GCC Capital Improvements
Facilities remains very busy with more than 200 projects large and small either in progress or in the pipeline at GCC’s three campuses. There is now a special webpage (glendale.edu/campusprojects) to keep you informed of the largest capital improvement projects in the district. Once there, you can look up projects by campus or an overall projects tab. For example, here’s a linkto the Verdugo Gym Expansion. The website is also a useful tool to track pending notices that impact the campus and community.
GCC-Branded Face Coverings for Staff
Medical experts say wearing a cloth face covering reduces the risk of spreading COVID-19. Facilities has ordered reusable cloth face coverings that feature the letters GCC. There are still many remaining, so if you would like to show your pride in our college while promoting safe practices, contact your division chair or manager who can order a mask for you. They can order disposable surgical masks for you as well.
If you come to campus infrequently, be sure to let Facilities know, so they can properly clean and disinfect your workspace after you leave. You can notify Facilities via a work order or if it’s short notice, email gccfacilitiesoffice@glendale.edu or call ext. 5555.
Virtual Verification for Students Seeking Financial Aid
GCC has secured a new tool that can simplify the process for some students seeking financial aid. Each year, the federal/state government selects one in five students who apply for financial aid to undergo a verification process to ensure the accuracy of the student’s application. In the past, they had to collect specific forms and tax documents and submit them to the GCC Financial Aid Office in person. Now, with Virtual Verification students can easily complete their forms and upload their documents online from their phone, tablet or computer. This simple tool can make a huge difference in a student’s life.
If students have any financial aid related questions, please have them use this link.
