In addition to the letterhead, the Toolkit includes a PowerPoint template, a business card request form and Zoom backgrounds. The Toolkit is part of the Brand Identity Guide. Please take a few moments to peruse the guide which has lots information beyond the best practices for GCC branding.
Outstanding Woman of the Year
We are proud to share that Congressperson Adam Schiff has recognized adjunct professor Nareh Manooki as an Outstanding Woman of Year for 2021. Each year, Rep. Schiff honors a group of inspiring women from communities in the 28th Congressional District. Nareh, an engineering instructor, was instrumental in coordinating GCC resources to produce face shields using the college’s state-of-the-art 3D printers and laser cutting equipment. The shields were used by local medical professionals in the early weeks of the coronavirus pandemic when they faced a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE).
First Wayfinding Signs Installed
The first of several wayfinding signs have been installed on the Verdugo Campus. The large colorful signs will make it easier for students and first-time visitors to find their way around. The sign package includes pole mounted street signs and directories that guide people to the color coded upper, middle and lower campus. The first phase should be complete before the start of the Fall Semester.
Chief's Corner: Summer Safety Tips
Chief Sam DiGiovanna currently serves as the Co-Director of the Verdugo Fire Academy. Prior to GCC, his 35 years in fire service included stints with the LA Co. Fire Department and 20 years with the City of Monrovia, six years as fire chief. You may have seen him on NBC-4 Los Angeles where he provides fire/life safety stories. Chief Sam will provide articles on staying safe during specific times of the year.

Soundwall Installed
Crews have installed a soundwall next to the New Science Building (NSB) project on the Verdugo Campus. The two-story barrier is designed to reduce noise for the residents just north of the construction site. The two-year construction project will result in a state-of-the-art five-story science facility for GCC students funded through taxpayer approved Measure GC.
