Board Policy Sets Deadlines for Faculty and Staff to be Fully Vaccinated

On August 17 the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously to pass Board Policy 3507 which requires all students, faculty, and staff to be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021 to access District facilities, including the Verdugo, Garfield and Montrose campuses. The Board Policy also set a December 21 deadline for all faculty and staff to be fully vaccinated whether or not they are working on campus or remotely.

The board took action in response to the rise in Delta variant COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County. Those who are vaccinated are four times less likely to get infected and 14 times less likely to be hospitalized.

Dr. Paul Schlossman, who leads the group tasked with implementing the vaccination policy, says that GCC has already contracted with a company (Kokomo 24/7) that has launched similar programs at other colleges, including the University of Michigan and UC Berkeley. “This is a large undertaking with a very tight timeline, but we will be providing instructions to the college community so everyone can meet the vaccination deadlines,” said Dr. Schlossman. “Those who are already vaccinated will soon be able to submit proof without compromising their privacy through the Kokomo 24/7 platform.”

If you have not been vaccinated, you should begin the process as soon as possible to ensure you complete the vaccination cycle before the October 31 deadline for on campus workers, or the December 21 deadline for all employees. If you have any questions regarding the protocols, send your inquiry to vaxinfo@glendale.edu.

GCC joined Glendale residents on August 3 for the first local National Night Out event in two years. The annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The gathering in Royal Canyon was one of nearly two dozen held in various Glendale neighborhoods. Board President Dr. Armine Hacopian joined GCC representatives who provided information about the college and a live performance from music student Karlen Vardanyan.

The templates are available to simplify the creative process. Through the use of the templates, you will be strengthening the GCC quality and brand recognition within our community with the consistent use of visual elements.

Here is an example of the template before and after formatting:
