What do I do if I can’t find a space in my assigned parking lot?
If you are unable to find a space in your assigned lot, please proceed to Lot C. Lot C is located in the first two floors of the parking structure. You can park in any of the green painted spaces with your employee permit.
Why can’t I just park in the red zone?
The red zones have been established for the safety of employees, students and visitors. These red zones provide the proper clearance for emergency vehicles responding to the college as well as for the safe maneuvering of delivery and other vehicles through the lot. It is illegal to park in a red zone unless directed by a police officer in accordance with California Vehicle Code Section 22500.1 (1) (2) (3).
Parking on campus is difficult, how can I help ease the “parking crunch”?
Here are some ways you can help:
Form a 3 or more person carpool (one permit issued to group).
Join or form a 5 or more person vanpool (college van provided).
Walk or bike to work and get a $20 monthly stipend (no permit issued).
Use the Bus and receive 50% reimbursement up to $100 a month.
Someone in my family or my friend is attending classes at GCC, can they use my permit?
The permit that you have been issued is the property of the District, it is not transferable. Unauthorized use of a permit is a violation of Board policy and may result in a fine or loss of parking privileges.
Why can’t I park in a lot next to my office or where I teach?
Parking assignments are based on seniority and in accordance with Board policy and established college regulations. You may request a reassignment annually; based on your seniority and parking availability, you may qualify for a parking reassignment.
Visitor Parking and Special Events
I am inviting a guest to the campus, where should I tell them to park?
Please submit a Permit Request Form to the GCC Police Department and we will do our best to provide your guest with a convenient area to park. Permit Request Forms can be obtained from the GCC Police Station in SM153 or online at http://www.glendale.edu/police under the forms section. You must submit the the form at least three business days in advance.
My department/division is hosting an event on campus and I don’t know how many people will be attending, what should we do?
In order to provide parking for our employees and students, we ask that all events be scheduled at least 30 days in advance. We also ask that event planners check the master calendar and make sure that other events are not planned that may impact parking on the day they choose to have their event. Our parking is severely impacted on a daily basis and only gets worse when events increase the amount of vehicles parking on campus. Please help us make your visitors have a pleasant parking experience at Glendale College by planning ahead.
I am a visitor, where can I park?
Visitor parking is available in Lots 30, 32, 33, and 34. These are all metered lots that require you to pay the meter.
I have a State issued Disabled Person Placard; do I need to have a permit to park on campus?
Yes, parking on campus is by permit only. You may park in any metered lot or at a street meter without paying the meter. If you are going to be parking on campus you will need to have a parking permit.
Where can I drop of a student or visitor?
There is a passenger loading and unloading zone located in front of the college. If you are dropping off or picking up a person with disabilities, there is a disabled person loading and unloading zone located in Lot F near the Towne Street and Verdugo Road intersection and another located in the first floor of the campus parking structure off of Mountain Street.
General Student Parking
Why can’t I park in the green spaces?
The green spaces are designated for employees and invited guests. Student parking is available in all of the white spaces in the structure as well as Lots 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and the Civic Auditorium parking structure.
I come a few minutes before my class starts and I never find a parking space. What should I do?
We recommend that students coming to class between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. arrive at least one hour before their class starts.
I always find that the campus parking structure is full, where do I park if I can’t find a space?
Student permits are honored in all of the white spaces in the structure as well as Lots 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and the Civic Auditorium parking structure. There is no guarantee that you will find a parking space, which is why you need to plan appropriately and arrive early.
Why is the campus parking structure blocked off sometimes even when there is space available?
During the first few weeks of the semester, the GCC Police will periodically close the structure to avoid gridlock, keep the structure in compliance with its weight capacity and to maintain pedestrian safety. Your student parking permit is honored in Lots 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and the Civic Auditorium parking structure.
I want to come to the campus, but I don’t have a permit, where can I park?
If you do not have a permit, you may purchase a daily permit in Parking Lot B for $3. You may also park in Lots 30, 32, 33 and 34 for $1 dollar an hour by paying the parking meters. Make sure that you read all posted signs as regulations may vary by lot.
