Census & Submission of Grades (Credit Instructors Only)
- Your Census Roster is a way of telling the state how many students are in your class so that GCC gets appropriate funding, so it's mandatory that the Census Roster is submitted on time each semester. For a 16-week course taught in a regular semester, the census dates are the first three days of Week 3. You must submit your Census Rosters within the 3-day window. Failure to submit this roster may result in your not being rehired to teach at GCC, so please mark your calendar and pay extra special attention to those reminder emails.
- Once the Census Dates are open, the Census Roster is one of your class rosters found on People Soft. The Census date will be just after the last day to add. See Important Dates for more information.
- You must enter your grades by 11:59 pm on the Tuesday after the last final exam day of the term.
- See PeopleSoft for more information
Positive Attendance & Submission of Grades (Noncredit Only)
Instructor Absences or Lateness (Credit Only)
- If you find yourself running late to class or will be absent, it is imperative that you report it to the GCC Faculty Absence Reporting Line: 818-246-5094 (it's recommended to put this number in your phone now so you have it handy).
- Even if all your students are aware that class is canceled, you still need to report the absence to the GCC Faculty Absence Reporting Line for record keeping and sick leave.
- See Instructor Absences or Lateness for more information.
Instructor Absences or Lateness (Noncredit Only)
Because of positive attendance, your Noncredit Division may want you to get a substitute teacher. Please call and email your administrative assistant as soon as possible if you need to be late or miss class:
- Noncredit ESL: Silva Gharabetian 818-240-1000 Ext. 5033 , mascorro@glendale.edu
- Noncredit Business: Yazaret Mascorro 818-240-1000 Ext. 5031, sgharabe@glendale.edu
Check Your Email Regularly
- The easiest way for students and colleagues to get in touch with you is via email. In order to facilitate departmental communication, please check your Glendale email regularly. ITS can assist you in getting email on your phone or forwarding to a personal account. When students are unable to reach you, they tend to contact the administration, so check email often and respond promptly.
- Use your GCC email for all GCC correspondence.
- It's true that GCC is known for loading up instructor inboxes with various events and announcements, and it can become overwhelming to keep up. You don't need to read everything, but be certain that you read and reply to emails from:
- Your Division Chair
- Your division's Administrative Assistant
- Your faculty mentor, if you have one
Syllabus (Course Overview in Noncredit) Requirements

- Check with your division chair about any devision-specific syllabus requirements
