General Information

The John Davitt Award, sponsored by the Professional Development Center, annually recognizes Classified and Management employees for outstanding service that has greatly benefited internal GCC operations or contributed to the success of GCC programs or services. The recipients can be nominated by any student, employee at the college, or the general public. The Davitt Award Committee, consisting of classified and management employees, reviews the nominations and selects the finalists. The nominees are recognized as follows:

Winner receives:

  • Crystal Statue
  • Cash prize of $250
  • Announced at Retirement/Recognition Luncheon
  • Board Meeting Presentation and reception
  • Article in the Chaparral Newsletter
  • Name on marquee in front of college and bookstore
  • Letter from the President

Finalists receive:

  • Letter from the President
  • Paid Recognition/Retirement Luncheon
  • Recognition at the Recognition/Retirement Luncheon (Announced)

Nominees receive:

  • Letter from the President to personnel file
  • Recognition at Recognition/Retirement Luncheon
