Ways to be involved, be in-the-know

Here are a few tips on how to give CSEA and Classified more of a voice:

MEETINGS

All governance committees are open meetings - anyone can attend as a guest.
Meeting information is available in Board Docs NOTE: governance committees are in transition of moving over to Board Docs; contact the Chair of the committee for more information.
Meetings including the Academic Senate AND the Budget Committee. 

Classified are represented on each committee - contact the rep on the committee you'd like to contribute to.

LIST OF GOVERNANCE COMMITTEES

The Blue List includes each governance committee mission and membership lists.

Minutes are reviewed by Standing Committees then posted in SharePoint 
Standing Committees are: College Executive, Academic Affairs, Institutional Planning and Coordination, Student Affairs, and Administrative Affairs.

I AM A MEMBER ON A COMMITTEE

If you are a representative on one or more governance committees, it is your responsibility to keep the constituent Leadership (CSEA Exec and Negotiation Team) updated on what occurred at the meeting, especially if an item affects Classified Staff.  There are two easy ways to accomplish this.

1. Use the "Committee report for Classified" located on the left-side navigation panel.  Select the committee and fill out the form.  It will be emailed to the Exec.

2. Forward the agenda and a brief summary of what discussion and item that may affect the Classified.  cseaexec@glendale.edu

BE IN THE KNOW OF THE FACULTY UNION ACTIVITIES

The faculty union, the Guild webpage, includes tentative agreements (TAs) www.glendale.edu/guild "Contract and Salary Schedules" - we were at a great advantage when some Classified were adjuncts since those persons received Guild emails, however, now Classified are NOT allowed to be instructors. Also it is good to be familiar with the Guild contract, namely the wages/stipends/ancillary pay/released time pay articles...we are a ‘me too’ District.

ATTEND A BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

You too, can participate in Board of Trustees meetings by making public comments or asking the CSEA President to bring up issues at the Board meetings as the leaders of Senate, Guild, and CSEA all have chances to speak, question, and contribute.  Go here for the Board of Trustees meeting schedule.
