Roster Update

For those of you who did not teach this summer, the rosters are new, different and add new information. I hope you have all visited your 'Faculty Center' and viewed your fall class schedule and class rosters. On each of your class rosters, there is a drop down box entitle 'Enrollment Status'. You can set this to view only fully enrolled students or just wait listed students or all students. You can e-mail each student one at a time or all of them at the same time. I know many faculty used this option during the summer to send their syllabus prior to the start of the term. Please be aware that not all of our current students have activated their College e-mail; Admissions mailed a postcard reminding students that the GCC e-mail is the standard for GCC communications.

Wait lists are set at 25. The wait list works like this: a student fully enrolled drops the course and the first person on the wait list rolls into the class if the prerequisite is met and there is no time conflict or unit overload. The key to the above statement is that a student can put themselves on the wait list without the system checking any rules - the student's eligibility is checked at the time of enrollment. If the next student in line for enrollment does not meet the requirements, that student is passed over and the next student is checked for eligibility.

All wait list students will automatically roll into your class when an opening occurs because of student drop, no show or instructor drop during the first week of the semester. In the second week, you will need to give the wait list student that you want to add to your class, a permission code that is listed at the bottom of your 'drop roster'. The student can use the permission code to add the class on line. All students should be added from the wait list prior to adding any student that contacts you or shows up in your class on the first day of the term.

The drop roster will be available the first day that your class meets.
