Home MenuAthletics & Naming Opportunities
Champions in and out of the classroom, GCC student-athletes define excellence and commitment. Throughout its storied history, the college has helped student-athletes achieve their dreams, while carrying with them the traditions and a foundation that instill leadership, hard work, and community service, to become individuals of character when they leave GCC.
The Athletic Appeal connects the past to the present and looks to the future as we pay homage to our celebrated history with the naming of Brian Beauchemin Court at Verdugo Gym and John Cicuto Stadium at Sartoris Field.
These ventures will complement the upgrades from Measure GC’s Verdugo Gym Retrofitting project. Technology tops the list of equipment needed to ensure the athletics facility is the best in the area and worthy of our community and student-athletes.
The state-of-the-art Live Streaming Database and Sports Broadcasting Network will bring the daily excitement of Vaquero Athletics directly into the homes of our student-athletes, their families, community members, and our alumni near and far. Not only will we be able to bring the games directly to our fans remotely, the system will also be able to create a database for competition, practice and highlight films by promoting our student-athletes for athletic scholarships and professional opportunities.
For strong, seamless communication, digital signal processing technologies will be supported by a robust internet network designed to ensure streaming options and limit interruptions, bringing athletic contests into living rooms of those who are unable to attend in person.
Press Box Sound System
Referees, announcers, and athletes will have future-proof equipment to ensure clear communication in an advanced modular highly-configurable system powered by the Lectrosonic Wireless System.
Fan Experience
The student, family and fan experience will also be drastically enhanced with individual bleacher seating at our outdoor athletic facilities to provide a comfortable viewing arrangement.
GCC Tennis Courts
Support for the six campus tennis courts is another necessary funding priority of the Capital Campaign for Athletics. The courts bordering Mountain Avenue were last re-surfaced in 2021 at a cost of over $40,000. The wear and tear on the surface is due to the constant use by GCC's Men and Women's Tennis Teams and the year-round community play of the El Vaquero Racquet Club. New netting, tennis equipment, and routine court cleaning are necessary to keep the courts safe.
