Athletic Endowment
Your name on the Athletic Endowment donor wall will demonstrate your support for the athletic program at GCC. Improvements made to Sartoris Field (named after long-time athletic director Jim Sartoris) include the installation of lights, restoration of the grass field and dirt track with artificial surfaces, renovation of the bleachers, a press box, scoreboard building and the addition of a multi-use electronic scoreboard. Your gift will help cover the ongoing maintenance expenses for the athletic facilities.
Bhupesh Parikh Health Sciences & Technology Building (Health Sciences)
In three stories and almost 40,000 square feet, the Bhupesh Parikh Health Sciences Building houses state-of-the-art labs, classrooms and study areas for the Kumud Parikh Nursing Program. Responding to the ongoing need for qualified nurses, GCC can now admit larger classes and provide the students with the finest training in a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Glendale College nursing graduates consistently score high marks and have an excellent pass rate (often 100%) on the national licensing examination.
The Health Sciences Building is also home to the GCC Digital Media Center which provides training for the digital arts field including photography, media arts, animation, graphic design and electronic pre-press.
Garfield Wall of Honor
Your donation to the Garfield Wall of Honor will allow job skills students to have the latest equipment, computer programs and materials to help them become an effective part of the workforce. In addition to giving English language learners the opportunity to have the audiovisual materials to enhance their ability to acquire vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency, it will supply basic skills adults with the specialized computer programs and materials to assist them in attaining the reading, math and writing competencies needed to become contributing members of society.
Planetarium Endowment
Under the glistening dome that has become a landmark at GCC, a 48- seat planetarium provides breathtaking tours of the night sky in real time and real color, trips to Saturn and the moon’s surface, and more. Enjoying the ultimate virtual reality experience, students and visitors recline in comfortable seats while 17 computers, working with six projectors, produce images on the 30-foot dome.
The mural that holds donor tiles, designed by GCC art instructor Ellen Stern, represents a blending of timeless technique of drawing by hand and the most modern technology of scanning and the use of computer-controlled machinery. The depiction of the solar system forms a seamless background for the tiles, which can hold an individual, family or business name.
