Greetings! My name is Mike Davis, and I am the Interim Director for HSI Initiatives. While I’m on special assignment with the grant, I normally teach mathematics at GCC and am also the 1st Vice President of the Academic Senate. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to interact with students and being able to provide a positive and welcoming learning environment where all students are comfortable making mistakes and talking about math. I’m passionate about working on grant projects because I can work towards dismantling barriers that students face when entering a college environment. I’ve also been part of the GCC Pride Week planning committee for the last three years and help organize the GCC Pride Alliance that helps advocate for our LGBTQ+ students and employees. My office is in SG 367 and you are welcome to stop by!

Hello! My name is Leticia Estrada, and I am a Program and Services Senior Specialist, supporting the Title V Adelante GCC, Title V Project CONNECT and Title III BIEN in STEM grants. In my role, I support grant initiatives aimed at increasing success rates among Latino (a) and disproportionately impacted students. As a first-generation college-student myself, I know the challenges many students experience when navigating the college system. Being part of a team working to provide programs and services to inform and support students in their college journey is rewarding to me. I look forward to collaborating with GCC faculty and staff and local community in achieving the grants’ goals!

Hello, my name is Cynthia Vazquez-Gonzalez, and I am a Persistence Counselor at Glendale Community College serving under the Office of Hispanic-Serving Initiatives. Being a first-generation Mexican-American college student and having the value to give back to my community, inspired me to become an academic counselor. I attended Glendale Community College where I earned an Associate’s degree for Transfer in Sociology, then transferred and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and minor in Spanish from UCLA, and then earned a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis in College Counseling and Student Services and a Career Education and Counseling Certificate from CSUN. One of my professional accomplishments is that I was awarded the 2022-2023 Academic Senate Exceptional Adjunct Faculty Award at Glendale Community College in recognition of distinguished contributions to the college and dedication to student success. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, trying new restaurants, walking my dogs, going to concerts, and playing Just Dance.
