BUSAD 101 Introduction to Business

  1. Students will be able to recognize, analyze, and assess current economic challenges facing global and domestic businesses.

BUSAD 106 Written Business Communications

  1. The student will analyze and classify topics and ideas to formulate well-organized responses to case studies and other expository business composition.

BUSAD 111 Introduction to Insurance

  1. Students will be able to describe and apply insurance concepts such as principles of indemnity, valued policy, and liability limits.
  2. Students will be able to describe and prepare basic insurance forms for commercial property, commercial general liability, commercial auto, homeowners, personal auto policy, crime, and umbrella insurance contracts.
  3. Students will be able to explain and illustrate the civil law system.
  4. Students will be able to explain and assess the importance of risk management.

BUSAD 112 Applied Workplace Ethics

  1. Students will be able to define ethics in a general business context and specifically in insurance organizations.

BUSAD 113 Principles of Property and Liability Insurance

  1. Students will be able to describe underwriting activities, underwriting management, the underwriting process, and the regulation of underwriting activity.
  2. Students will be able to explain responsibilities of claim representatives, types of claim representatives, the claim handling process, establishing loss reserves, and unfair claim practice laws.
  3. Students will be able to describe elements of a contract, insurance contracts, and conditions commonly found in property and liability insurance policies.
  4. Students will be able to describe loss exposures and policy provisions.

BUSAD 114 Personal Insurance

  1. Students will be able to discuss loss exposures, personal risk insurance, and types of personal insurance policies.
  2. Students will be able to explain problems or challenges associated with insurance, such as no-fault insurance, high-risk drivers, compensation of victims, regulation and rating of automobile insurance.
  3. Students will be able to define parts of automobile coverage, i.e. liability, medical payments, uninsured motorists, coverage for damage to automobiles, and personal automobile policy conditions.
  4. Students will be able to discuss financial planning as it impacts personal loss, social security, retirement plans, and annuities.

BUSAD 115 Commercial Insurance

  1. Students will be able to define commercial insurance and commercial insurance policies.
  2. Students will be able to explain policies providing commercial property coverage, building and personal property coverage forms, insuring fluctuating values, and blanket insurance.
  3. Students will be able to describe cause-of-loss forms, other commercial property coverage forms, endorsements, commercial property conditions, and rating commercial property coverage.
  4. Students will be able to explain liability loss exposures, commercial general liability insurance (CGL) including insured party(ies), limits of insurance, CGL endorsements, rating of CGL coverage, and miscellaneous liability forms.
