Career Counseling Appointments
- How do I make an appointment with a counselor? How long are appointments?
  You can schedule an appointment by contacting one of the counselors.
Career Education Programs
- Community College Students
  If you are currently attending community college, you may be trying to figure out which career area is the right one for you. Not all careers require a four year degree. There are many certificate and associate degree programs that take two years or less and that lead to high-demand, high paying careers.
- Industry Sector (clusters) career Pathways
  There are fifteen industry sectors (clusters) with multiple career pathways in each. Career pathways may lead to certificates, associate degrees or transfer degrees which allow students to go on to a four year college to complete a bachelor's degree.
- What are Career Education programs?
  They are the pathways that allow students to learn by exploring, collaborating, and doing. Taught by instructors and expert professionals, these programs provide hands-on training while building the comprehensive skillsets needed for success in the jobs of today and well into the future. Declaring a Major
- How do I choose a major?
  We know that choosing a major can be difficult with so many options! Begin asking yourself:
  - What do I like to do (interests)?
  - What am I passionate about?
  - What do I want to learn about?
  - Who am I and how do I related to others (personality)?
  - What do I do well and what do I want to develop (strengths)?
  - What is important to me (values)?
  Remember that choosing a major is not always the same as choosing a career. Schedule a counseling appointment to explore your major options.
- I am thinking of a career change, what do I do?
  When considering a career change, you will find that self-exploration and thorough career research could be of great importance and value in helping you make the right choice. Take a career assessment to learn about yourself.

High School Students
- Are any CE classes in pathways articulated with local community colleges?
  Yes! Many CE courses are articulated with Glendale Community Colleges (GCC). At the beginning of each school year, CE teachers work with CE transition coordinators from GCC to begin or renew their course articulation agreements.
- How do CE courses prepare students for college and career?
  All CE courses support the Common Core and CE Model Curriculum Standards (MCS). Learning rigorous academic skills, especially in English Language Arts and Mathematics are an integral part of each CE course outline and competencies. These skills help our students put English Language Arts and Mathematics to work in a real-world, hands-on environment they can relate to. The CE MCS are designed to assist school districts in developing high quality curriculum and instruction to prepare students for future careers. The MCS were created with assistance from more than 300 representatives from business, industry, post-secondary and secondary education and reviewed by nearly 1000 members of the general public. - What is a CE (formally known CTE) Pathway?
  A CE pathway is a sequence of two or more CTE courses within a student’s area of career interest. Pathways are designed to connect high school classes to college, industry certifications, and/or a career.
- What is a program of study?
  A program of study shows the classes you need to take in a career pathway to complete high school and a certificate or an associate's degree showing both the career pathway classes and the general education classes you will need. - Why should students participate in a CE pathway?
  While in high school, students have the opportunity to acquire free technical skills training in the career field he/she is interested in. Students will learn valuable technical skills and soft skills making them employable regardless of the field of study they actually end up in.

Petitions
- Graduation Petition
  The Associate degree will be granted to a student who files a Petition for Graduation in the Office of Admissions and Records; who is not on academic probation; and who has completed 12 units in residency of the required college curriculum of 60 degree applicable semester units at Glendale Community College.
- Petition for certificate
  Complete and submit form to the Admissions and Records Office; Email your forms to Admissions & Records at: ARDocs@glendale.edu
- Petition for Skill Award
  If you completed all requirements for your Skill Award, your next step is to complete the online petition.
