The Associate in Arts in Philosophy for Transfer Degree is designed to prepare the student for transfer to four-year institutions of higher education and is specifically intended to satisfy the lower division requirements for the Baccalaureate Degree in Philosophy at a California State University. The knowledge and skills offered in this degree lead students to develop foundational knowledge in the field of philosophy including those topics and issues related to global, national, and local aspects of the field of study. Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, students will be able to identify and evaluate arguments. Students will be able to recognize the importance of reasoning in seeking truth. Students will be able to articulate and distinguish competing theories and perspectives.
The Philosophy AA-T degree requires completion of the major and the CSU General Education (40 units) or IGETC (37-39 units) requirements.
All courses used to satisfy the major for the Associate in Arts degree must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.
