Graduate School: Research the education and prerequisites needed for your chosen career. Advanced degrees may be necessary for various careers or for better information and knowledge.
Mentorship and Networking: Find a mentor to start meeting people and have someone to ask questions about the chosen career
Clinical and Lab Experience: Seek out opportunities in clinics or labs related to your chosen field of study.
Field Experience and Research: Seek out research opportunities in the field. Participate in courses taught at Estación del Mar Cortés, GCC's Baja Field Station. Take an Undergraduate Research course in Biology (BIO 298) or Chemistry (CHEM 298).
Internships: Labs and other businesses in your chosen field may have internship opportunities. Intern through BIO 50 - with programs at the Natural History Museum, Glendale Memorial Hospital, and in biotechnology.
Publishing and Conferences: Publish research findings to help build brand and name in your field. Speak with faculty members to learn more about those opportunities or join in with them. Present your data at research conferences
Summer Research: Take undergraduate (or graduate) summer research courses at research laboratories such as Cold Spring Harbor, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Amgen, etc.
Volunteer: Look to volunteer in a chosen area, even if it is to help teach your field. Connect with professionals and ask.
