Student Comments and Reflections

So far, I have lost all my nail polish, got stung by a jellyfish, got a horrible infection in my toenail and I can’t wait to come back to Bahía! This place is one of the most amazing environments I have ever been in. The people are so friendly; I have had the opportunity to interact with nature in a way I never had before.

… Little did I know of the teeming marine life and the amazing adaptations of the land plants and animals in order to survive...

This had to have been one of the best learning experiences for me. It was fun taking those hikes, watching the sunsets, and sunrises. For never been camping in my life, it wasn’t bad at all

This, my second voyage to Bahía de Los Angeles, was just as amazing and phenomenal as it was when I first laid my eyes on the bay one year ago. The diversity of life in the sea of Cortez, the diversity that changed my life last year was still evident…

We stayed for one week and now that its Friday that seems so short a time. I had such a great time, at the station, on our hikes, listening to lectures, hanging out with my (fabulous) group, rowing the kayaks, sleeping under the stars. I'm so glad I decided to come.

I never knew such world existed in a world as busy as today,
Mother nature taught me about life, about the world, but most of all about friends
Two and plus weeks we’ve spent, snorkeling and studying, laughing and partying,
I will never forget the time I’ve spent here.

My second trip here was different but just as perfect. The almost overwhelming beauty of Baja and its smooth glassy waters has left me refreshed. Beauty comes in many forms here and waking up to lapping water and gorgeous sunsets will definitely bring me back again.
This truly is paradise on earth. See u later Bahía! :o)

The experience was awesome, breath taking, beautiful... actually there are no words that can really explain the experience. The experience itself would not have been without the company of fabulous people. We spent 2 and a half weeks under each others skin and we still want to get together and reminisce. The vibe and enthusiasm that everyone brought was sensed by our new friends; the whale shark family, humpbacks, squid, and so on. We all became family for 2 weeks.

This is my first time here and the experience was really great. I’ve never imagined myself “camping” on the beach, in Mexico, with all those great people, and learning geology too…

… I can’t remember feeling this good in a long time. Here in Baja I learned things about my life, and learned about something I love, the ocean…

The Baja Studies program is just like going on a research expedition. May it continue long into the new millennium?

I have learned and grown on this trip. Nature at its best. This time away has been so valuable. We had experiences that will carry on forever…

Thank you very much for allowing us to enjoy the comforts of the field station. Everything here is very well maintained and really an ideal place.

Coming to Baja was the best thing I have ever done. The first week was filled with awesome experiences such as seeing whale sharks, humpback whales, squid and other beautiful things. I really enjoyed the trips to the islands and experiencing nature one on one. New friendships and experiences of once in a lifetime have made this trip unforgettable. I shall remember this forever.

This was an excellent experience and a wonderful 2 weeks of learning. It was one of the most enjoyable classes of my life.

I really enjoyed the marine life at Bahía and my favorite part of the trip was going out on the boats every morning and going snorkeling on the different islands.
