Phase I is intended for students who are undecided. This phase provides students with an opportunity to explore their values and learn about the various factors that impact the career decision-making process, including personality, culture, interests, and strengths.

Phase I provides the following outcomes for participants:

• An understanding of how values and careers can be aligned.
• An understanding of how identity intersects with choice of major and the career journey.
• A demystified career exploration process.

Phase I is offered each fall term and consists of three meetings in total.

Phase II is intended for students who have declared a major but are still uncertain about their career paths. Students will have the opportunity to learn about what motivates them, explore what they value in careers, learn how to utilize various online tools to help research careers and majors, and understand the importance of informational interviewing and gaining real world experience.

Phase II provides the following outcomes for participants:

• Knowledge of tools and resources used for career exploration
• An understanding of the ideal work environment for each individual
• Prepared to conduct successful informational interviews

Phase II is offered each spring term, and entails a total of three meetings.

Phase III is indented for students who have already declared a major and are decided on a career path but would like to explore ways to take action toward developing their skills outside the classroom. Students will learn about resume development by engaging in activities to explore effective strategies for building/enhancing resumes. In this phase, students learn about the importance of gaining related experience through various forms such as job shadowing, volunteering, and internships. Students also visit various areas of campus to further gain insights and learn about experiential opportunities. Some of the visits include GCC’s Career Services, College CORPS, and MCEC.

Phase III provides the following outcomes for participants:

• Successfully developing and delivering elevator pitches for potential employers
• Knowledge of tools and strategies to create/enhance a professional identity
• Identify how job postings relate to respective resumes and the importance of building an appropriate resume

Phase III is offered each fall term, and entails a total of three meetings.
