If you are in our learning communities (Black Scholars, La Comunidad, or APIDA), an email gets sent to your GCC email account with tour information and sign up links.
If you are not in our learning communities, you may come into the Student Equity Office (SR 207) and inquire/ sign up.
2. When are university tours scheduled?
Local University Tours are typically scheduled during the fall term. These are one day trips to local universities in the LA area.
Southern California University Tours are typically scheduled during winter intersession. These trips take place over two days (1 night) and students explore universities in the Southern Cali area.
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Tours are typically scheduled during spring break. These tours are typically between 3 – 5 days long and are out of state trips.
Northern California University Tours are typically scheduled during spring break. These tours take place over 3 days (2 nights) and students explore universities in the Northern Cali region.
3. Is there a fee to participate?
YES!!
Local UniversityTours require a $20 deposit to save your spot. We return $10 of the deposit to you on the day of the tour. No shows forfeit the entire deposit.
Northern California University Tours require a $50 deposit to secure your spot. We return $20 to you on the day of the tour. If a student reserves a spot but doesn’t attend, they forfeit the entire deposit.
Southern California University Tours require a $40 deposit to secure a spot. We return $20 to you on the day of the tour. If a student reserves a spot but doesn’t attend, they forfeit their entire deposit.
HBCU's require a $100 deposit to secure your spot. After returning from the trip, we will return $50 and keep $50. If a student doesn't attend the tour, they will forfeit their $100 deposit.
4. Is lodging/ transportation / food provided?
Local University Tours provide bus transportation. No food provided. These are not overnight tours.
Northern and Southern California University Tours provide bus transportation and lodging. No food provided.
HBCU Tours provide airfare, bus transportation, lodging, and some food.
5. Can I bring a friend or family member that does not attend GCC?
NO guests allowed.
Those that do not attend GCC are not allowed to come on the tours.
Those that are GCC students must apply and follow the necessary steps to sign up. GCC students that did not sign up and did not submit the necessary requirements on time are not allowed to attend.
6. What happens after I apply?
Wait to be contacted by a Student Equity staff member. We will contact you through your GCC student email.

8. Do you offer accommodations?
Yes, as long the student lets us know ahead of time. Students can describe their accommodation request on the tour application.
