Why Choose GCC?

The Bridge to Your Future Begins Here

Campus & Facilities: Founded in 1927, GCC is a fully-accredited institution, and is one of the oldest and most established CA Community Colleges. Nestled on 100 acres of the scenic hills of the San Rafael Mountains, our beautiful campus boasts over 25 climate-controlled buildings, including modern computer & science labs, an athletic compound, and an extensive library. GCC's faculty have masters or doctoral degrees in their chosen discipline and bring real-world experience to the classroom. We proudly offer small classes of under 30 students, ensuring a high-touch learning experience.

Affordable Tuition: GCC's international students pay amongst the lowest tuition fees in the California Community College system. For the same quality of education, the average yearly tuition expense for a GCC international student is under $11,00 compared to an average yearly tuition cost of roughly $50,000 for nonresidents in the UC system

US Employment Opportunities: You may apply for an on-campus job in your first semester of study. Students who earn a Certificate, Associate in Arts (AA), or Associate in Science (AS) are also eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation. OPT allows F-1 students to work in the US for up to one year in a job directly related to their field of study. Students who first complete OPT at the Certificate level may qualify for another year of OPT after earning an Associates degree. GCC's Career Services office helps you build a professional presence through career planning services, resume and cover letter writing workshops, and mock interviews, and also offers a unique Team Internship experience.

Transfer/"2+2" Agreements:  A "2+2" transfer agreement allows you to take the first two years of a bachelor's degree at GCC and "transfer" those credits to a four-year university system. GCC has transfer agreements with many California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses, as well as many renowned private institutions. Our Associate Degrees for Transfer (AAT/AST degrees) even give you special perks for admission to the CSUs. The Transfer Center is an excellent resource to help you find the school that best fits your academic and professional goals, plan the best path for transfer, and even help you through the transfer application process. We are proud to state that we traditionally have one of the highest transfer rates within the California system of community colleges.

Safe Suburban Location. The City of Glendale, known as the "Jewel City" of Southern California, is a safe suburban community located within the Greater Los Angeles metro area (approximately 10 miles/15-20 kilometers northeast of Downtown Los Angeles). GCC is roughly a 10 minute drive from the Americana and Glendale Galleria shopping districts featuring a large variety of restaurants, stores, boutiques, and entertainment.
