Student Loan Exit Counseling

Borrowers who cease attending Glendale Community College, graduate or are enrolled in less than half time units are subject to receive loan exit counseling information. At a minimum, Glendale Community College notifies these students by email and asks they complete the loan exit counseling offered by the US Department of Education at www.studentloans.gov

This exit counseling offered by the US Department of Education cover the following.
  1. Average anticipated monthly repayment amount
  2. Repayment plan options
  3. Options to prepay or pay on shorter schedule
  4. Debt Management Strategies
  5. Use of Master Promissory Note
  6. The seriousness and importance of student’s repayment obligation
  7. Terms and conditions for forgiveness or cancellation
  8. Copy of information provided by the U.S. Department of Education
  9. Terms and conditions for deferment or forbearance
  10. Consequences of default
  11. Options and consequences of loan consolidation
  12. Tax benefits available to borrowers
  13. The obligation of the borrower to repay the full amount of the loan regardless of whether the borrower completes program or completes within regular time for completion, is unable to obtain unemployment upon completion, or is otherwise dissatisfied with or did not receive the educational or other services the borrower purchased from the school
  14. Availability of the Student Loan Ombudsman’s office
  15. Information about NSLDS. The U.S. Department of Education is required to provide a disclosure form for students and prospective students about NSLDS
