MATH PLACEMENT

The Math GPS is only for students who do not have Business, STEM, and SLAM math placements OR receive a notification that they may be ready to take a higher-level math class. Math placements can be found in your MyGCC.

Students will complete the Math Guided Placement Survey (GPS) online. Questions are regarding high school GPA, coursework, and grades. Provided students meet one of the above criteria, completing the Math GPS will make students eligible to take courses at the College.

Please follow the instructions:

Students can submit the GPS survey only once.
Students must have a GCC ID# before taking the surveys.

MATH ASSESSMENT

Students will complete a guided placement survey (GPS). Questions are regarding high school GPA, coursework, and grades. Once placed in a GCC mathematics course, students advance in the mathematics sequence according to course prerequisites.

For Math you can walk in to the Assessment Center during the office hours.

Students should bring a high school transcript.

Each survey can only be taken once.

PLACEMENT RESULTS

Students will receive their placement results via email at your GCC student email account right after completing the survey or they can be viewed on MyGCC.

If you want a second opinion on your placement, you can submit a sample of your work by visiting the Assessment Center.

You may opt to take the class lower than your placement listed above or see a counselor for advice.

We strongly recommend you speak with a GCC counselor about your educational plan.
