My name is Gayane Jerome and I am your new Career Counselor. I am a first-generation English-language learner. I started my educational career in the United States, much like you, at Glendale Community College. The education and guidance received at GCC allowed me to transfer to CSU Northridge, where I received my Bachelor’s degree and later earned my Master's Degree in College Counseling and Student Services. I worked on earning both educational degrees while being a parent, so I know firsthand what it feels like to juggle many roles and try to do your best in all of them.

I am passionate about empowering you with the knowledge and skills to take control of your career exploration and decision-making process so you can create the kind of life you dream of for yourself and your children! As your Career Counselor, I can help you understand how your personal characteristics such as personality preferences, interests, skills, abilities, and strengths influence academic major selection and career development. Together, we can explore academic, occupational, and employment options that are suitable for you. I can also assist you in your job search process and in developing employment-seeking skills.

In addition, I am an Accredited Financial Counselor. In this capacity I can assist you in making the connection between your college major, future career choices, and earning potential. If interested, I would share with you everything I know about topics such as budgeting, savings, credit building, getting out of debt, and identity theft, just to name a few. I can also help you with the challenging task of starting these conversations with your children as early as possible.

One of the great joys and privileges of my profession is listening to students' stories and aspirations and helping them figure out ways to achieve them. Let us figure your path together! I look forward to meeting each of you and learning from all of you.
