WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM YOUR CAMPUS COMMUNITY
Verdugo Campus - San Rafael, 2nd Floor (227)
Garfield Campus - Tropico 300
"As a parenting student, you are setting in motion an educational path that will have an impact on many future generations of your family. We want you to remember that the challenges you face as a parenting student do not come from any failure on your part to be "organized enough," "hard-working enough," or "smart enough." What you're doing is harder than it is for other students, but it is twice as important.
On your toughest days, imagine yourself standing on stage on the GCC football field, wearing a cap and gown, with your diploma in your hand. Then, imagine looking out into the audience and seeing your children watching you graduate. Your children will grow up and and say "My mom graduated from college. My dad graduated from college. So, I'm going to graduate from college, too."
Stop by our offices for coloring books, crayons, diapers, toys, or just to have a friendly, supportive chat. Crying babies are always welcome in the CalWORKs office. ♥" -- Aarin Edwards

"GCC's LEARNING COMMUNITIES Our learning communities are designed to provide a supportive environment and offer services to help our students reach their potential and achieve their academic and personal goals. Make connections, lifelong friends, gain important skills, participate in campus activities and events, all while being supported and guided through your college journey. Through the program, you may be eligible for meal vouchers, TAP cards, parking permits, and book vouchers. We also offer social mixers and events to help you get acquainted with your peers. Several university trips are coordinated to help expose transfer-bound students to the many transfer opportunities available."

Whether it's reaching your own goals or being a role model to your own children, GCC is fortunate to have you. As a working mother of three who brought my first child to work with me, resilient parenting and student success requires a supportive village. We're here to support you and your children in any way we can." -- Michelle Stonis

"As a parent, it is extremely important that GCC students and faculty feel like they can bring their students to campus when needed! We all know how challenging it can be when there is no one to help out and there are classes and/or meetings to attend. If we all help each other just a bit, we all succeed! (Plus, our kids get a great view of what it's like to be on a college campus -- a win-win situation!)" -- Katie Datko
