Frequently asked Transfer Center questions.
The transfer process may seem intimidating and confusing to many of our students, particularly those who are first in their family to attend college and for our disproportionately impacted student groups.
At the Transfer Center, we strive to provide clear transfer pathways for students, to inform them of the transfer process early on, and to encourage them to utilize our resources.
Students are offered strategies to get admitted into a 4-year university through transfer counseling, workshops, application labs, personal statement assistance, classroom presentations, advising sessions with college and university representatives, campus tours, and college fairs.
We offer online and in-person transfer drop-in and appointments.
Online and in-person drop-in is offered Monday through Thursday from 3-5 PM and Fridays online from 10 AM-12 PM. Visit glendale.edu/transfercenter to access online drop-in. Visit the Transfer Center (SV 3rd floor) for in-person drop-in.
Call, email or join the Transfer Center's Live Zoom Help to schedule an appointment with a transfer counselor. Appointments will be conducted in-person or remotely, by phone or online.
Once you register in your final semester, you may petition for your ADT.
If you applied to a CSU for fall admission, apply for your ADT verification by completing a graduation petition with a GCC counselor by March 10.
If you applied to a CSU for spring admission, apply for your ADT verification by completing a graduation petition with a GCC counselor by October 25.
If you are transferring to a CSU for a major that accepts your ADT degree and you noted your ADT intent on your CSU application, our evaluators will submit an e-verify to the CSUs on your behalf.
If you did not let the CSU know of your ADT intent on your CSU application, you will need to submit a paper ADT verification to your CSUs directly. You will need to make copies of the "Verification of Intent to Earn Associate in Arts/Science Degree - Transfer" form (also sometimes given to you at the time that you filed for your degree) and submit to your CSUs.
Once your ADT degree posts on your GCC transcript, your official transcript will be your verification document. You will no longer need to submit the paper ADT verification form.
You do NOT need to submit the ADT verification if you are transferring as a different major (i.e. getting AS-T in Math but transferring as a Biology major).
You do NOT need to submit the ADT verification if you are transferring to a UC.
Most schools request for General Education (CSU Breadth and IGETC) during July. Apply for GE Certification in your last semester or session at GCC. You are able to request for GE Certification when ordering your transcript through GCC Admissions & Records.
If you will be using Advance Placement Credit toward your GE requirements, meet with a counselor to petition for Advance Placement Credit in your last semester or session at GCC prior to submitting your request for GE Certification.
It is to the student's benefit to repeat a course in which he/she received a grade of D or F in order to raise the GPA. In order to satisfy major requirements, and General Education Requirements for CSU Breadth and IGETC, the student must have a minimum of "C" grade in all courses.
If you received a grade of D or F in a course, you may enroll in the course again. After you successfully complete the course, you should fill out the "Request to Count the Higher Grade" and submit it to the Office of Admissions and Records so the original grade of D or F will not be calculated in your grade-point average.
Meet with a transfer counselor regarding how repeating courses will impact transferring to another institution.
If you do not need to repeat a course because the course(s) are not needed for your current goal, this is a good option for you. Read more about our academic renewal policy and see if you qualify to petition.
Your original F/D grade will still be visible on your GCC transcript, but it won't be calculated into your GPA. Glendale Community College does not guarantee that institutions outside the district will honor academic renewal. The receiving institution/agency will make that determination.
Meet with a transfer counselor regarding how Academic Renewal will impact transferring to another institution.
