Transferring to UCSD as a Biology major; Pre-med

What is your GCC transfer story?
My story is that UC San Diego was always my top choice because of the groundbreaking research I can do and the beautiful campus with so much possibility to grow. Doing all that I ever dreamed while the beach is in my backyard is all that I ever wanted as a child.

How did GCC help you get where you want to be?
GCC offered me amazing leadership opportunities and gave me a huge platform to network. I truly enjoyed the first two years of working towards my bachelor’s degree.

Shout-outs and Words of Wisdom?
A simple advice I can give to upcoming transfers is that, positive thinking allows positive things to come your way. I am a living proof of that concept so good luck everyone.

What is your GCC transfer story?
After graduating high school 12 years ago I a decided to come back to school. Being at GCC was amazing. I was guided by the best counselor and had amazing professor who made completing my general education much easier.

How did GCC help you get where you want to be?
GCC helped me get to where I want to be by guiding me on the correct classes to take to not be wasting my time. The EOPS counselor Mr. James Del Toro was key to being able to transfer. He explained to me what classes I needed to take to be able to transfer and he actually encouraged me to apply to more than school to have options and I will always be grateful for that.

Shout-outs and Words of Wisdom?
Shout out to my family and my husband Angel who was always beside me, tios Victor and Jeff who pushed me to go back to school and Counselor James Del Toro. Also, to my very first professor at GCC Ms. Sangita Dube for always believing and me and giving me words of encouragement. Don’t ever give up always ask questions because there will always be someone there to answer them.

Thanks to my success at GCC, I not only got into my dream program - I was also accepted to all 16 universities that I applied to!

How did GCC help you get to where you want to be?
The encouraging and supportive professors at GCC helped me to believe in my own abilities, which lit a fire within me to achieve all that I could.
