COVID Notifications:
Instructor Absences/Lateness:
- For Planned absences: Leave of Academic Absence Form
- For Unplanned absences/Lateness, please report it to the GCC Faculty Absence Reporting Line: 818-246-5094 (it's recommended to put this number in your phone now so you have it handy)
- This recorded line is checked continuously from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. You will be asked to leave the following information:
- Name
- Class name
- Class time
- Class room number
- Special instructions for students, if any (these will be posted on the door)
- Reason for your absence (they just need to know if it's sick leave or personal necessity - you do not need to give additional details)
- Absences and lateness are sometimes unavoidable, but it is truly important to let the college and your students know as early as possible.
- The college will check your message immediately and post the information on your classroom doors to notify students. If possible, it's still helpful to notify students by email or a Canvas announcement about delayed or canceled classes.
- Even if all of your students are aware that class is canceled, you still need to report the absence to the GCC Faculty Absence Reporting Line for record keeping and sick leave!
