Education

M.A Economics, San Diego State University

B.A. Economics, Whittier College

Michael Gale joined Glendale Community College in 2023 and currently serves as a faculty member and Chair of the Economics Department. He teaches Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and Statistics.
Professor Gale understands that many students take economics to fulfill a general education requirement rather than to pursue it as a major. In his courses, he emphasizes the relevance of economics to students’ everyday lives and uses real-world examples to help them understand how economic forces shape individual choices, businesses, public policy, and society. He aims to strengthen students’ critical-thinking and data-analysis skills so they can make informed decisions based on evidence.
Outside of the classroom, Professor Gale serves as a member of the Student Equity Committee and as a faculty advisor for the Economics Club. He is also a member of the American Economic Association and participates in the Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE). Through these roles, he works to support an inclusive campus environment and encourage students to explore economics beyond the classroom.
In his free time, Professor Gale enjoys traveling with his wife and son, as well as surfing.
