Dulce Salcedo Lopez

I am an Academic Counselor at the Garfield Campus, and my role is to provide academic, career, and personal support to our students. Helping our students accomplish their goals is my main priority!

I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, and I moved to the United States at the age of 15. Like many of our Garfield students, English is my second language. Therefore, I understand how challenging it is to learn a new language, but I know that our Garfield Campus truly cares about helping students learn.

After high school, I attended Rio Hondo College, and obtained an A.A. in Social Sciences and an AA-T in Psychology. I then transferred to Cal State Long Beach and completed my B.A. in Psychology. A couple of years after, I attended Cal State Dominguez Hills to get my M.S. in College Counseling.

During my free time, I enjoy watching horror movies. Oftentimes, this genre portrays social issues that are important for us. In addition, I enjoy nature and hiking is my way to get involved in that realm. Lastly, I am always on the lookout to watch a good film at an old theater somewhere.

I am truly passionate about what I do, and I hope I get to help our students for many years to come.
