At the Armenian Relief Society of Western USA, Inc., Fellows assist with client intake and support the Social Services Intake Coordinator and Case Managers in delivering essential services. They also work with the Director of Social Services and the Controller to help streamline operations and improve service delivery to clients and the community. Additionally, Fellows have the opportunity to participate in educational workshops and assist with adult ESL classes, gaining hands-on experience in community-based social service programs.

Working with people experiencing homeless & challenges with finding housing. DESCRIPTION of DUTIES:

At Friends In Deed, duties involve supporting the operations of the food pantry by unloading donations, sorting and bagging produce, breaking down boxes, and organizing perishable items. Volunteers help prepare the pantry for daily food distribution and assist community members during their visits. Afternoon tasks may include restocking shelves, bagging items, and providing direct assistance to clients. While some lifting (up to 30–40 lbs) may be involved, it is not required.

The supervisors will assign Fellows duties relating to food insecurity, such as unloading food from a vehicle, stocking shelves while checking expiration dates, distributing food to people who visit the designated donation site, and receiving food from stores that donate. Fellows will be instructed on how to carry out the tasks listed above, and help facilitate the operations of the Food Bank.

(Food Pantry)
Assist with sorting, bagging, & distribution of donated food. Organization, leading & unloading supplies, set up & clean up, maintenance of pantry, tables, storage, refrigerator& freezer areas. Assist in preparing, packing, serving & handling of food/meals. Support social services staff to ensure quality services for families and clients. Willing to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

(Mobile Showers)
Greet mobile shower participants, see them enter showers in proper order enrolled & provide sign-in forms ensuring demographic info is collected. Load, unload, store program supplies and equipments & keep records of tasks. Provide toiletries number cars/tickets & ensure clients follow allotted time for shower. Clean & prepare showers. Assist with laundry services, preparation & packaging of meals for the feeding program. Clean and sanities kitchen, food storage areas plus the dishes and equipments. Maintain good working relations with Salvation Army staff, volunteers, & visitors, and others.

Union Station Homeless Services provides support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness by offering shelter, meals, housing assistance, and case management. Duties typically include helping with meal service, maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting clients with basic needs, and connecting them to resources such as job training, mental health services, and permanent housing solutions.

  • Non-profit or governmental organization
  • Main area of focus at GCC College Corps: Food Insecurity/Economic Development areas
  • Ability to host at least two or more Fellows, and to provide Fellows effective training
  • Mentoring and supervision to meet the goal of providing meaningful work experience
Community Host Partner's Responsibilities:  
  • Collaborate with partner campuses to place and train College Corps Fellows
  • Ensure Fellows meet the 450-hour service requirement while learning practical skills and interacting directly with program beneficiaries
  • Support partner campuses in tracking Fellow contributions and outcomes
