Six UC campuses offer guaranteed admission to California Community College students who meet specific requirements (UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz). UCLA, UC Berkeley and UC San Diego do not participate in the TAG program.

By participating in TAG, you will receive early review of your academic records, early admission notification and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework.

In order to be eligible, at the time of TAG application submission, you must have completed a minimum of 30 UC-transferable units with a certain GPA as required by each university and/or major. Each school has explicit eligibility requirements in regards to minimum GPA and courses that need to be completed by a specific time.

With the Transfer Success Pathway (TSP) program, you can take the first steps toward earning your four-year degree while you’re enrolled at a community college. If you’re entering a California Community College for the first time, the Transfer Success Pathway program guarantees you admission to a CSU so you can keep moving ahead. 

To be eligible for the TSP program, you must meet the following criteria:

• First-time freshman who either:
  • Wasn’t eligible to attend the CSU at the time you graduated from high school; Or
  • Didn’t attend a CSU because of personal or financial reasons.
• Graduated high school in 2025 or prior, and did not receive any college credit after high school graduation

Eligible students can apply to the program to:

• Enter into an agreement with the CSU and receive guaranteed admission to the degree program and campus of your choice. Please note:
  • You must meet all TSP requirements within three years.
  • Available degree programs vary by each CSU.
• Receive personalized guidance from CSU representatives to create an educational plan that will help you transfer in three years or less.
• Map out your coursework using the CSU Transfer Planner portal to ensure you’re on track to earning your degree.

GCC currently offers several Associate Degrees for Transfer[BROKEN LINK] to the California State University (CSU). These include Associate in Arts (AA-T) and Associate in Science (AS-T) degrees. These degrees are designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU major and a bachelor's degree.

California community college students who are awarded an AA-T or AS-T degree are guaranteed admission with junior standing to one of the CSUs. Students are also given priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a program that is "deemed similar" to their community college major.

To determine whether an ADT is deemed similar at a specific CSU campus, visit ADT Majors & Campus Search, and talk to a counselor to determine whether the ADT is a good option for your goals. 

California Community Colleges have a Transfer Guarantee with 39 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Students who complete certain academic requirements are guaranteed transfer to a participating HBCU.

How to Qualify

Any California community college student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher (NOTE: certain partner HBCU will require a higher GPA) is guaranteed admission to all partner HBCU institutions using either of the following two options. While at the California Community College:

1. Complete an Associate degree (ADT) using the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education Breadth pattern or

2. Complete a minimum of 30 UC or CSU units. 

Those students completing a Associates Degree (Non-ADT) are welcomed to apply to all partner institutions, however, the benefit of guaranteed admissions is not offered and all degree applicable units are subject to transcript evaluation.

St. Mary's College of California

Guarantee your admissions to Saint Mary's College by meeting these requirements:

• Complete 23 UC transferable semester units
• A cumulative academic GPA of 2.50 calculated by Saint Mary’s College
• Good standing with your current institution
• Academic GPA of 3.00 and above to receive a merit scholarship

Arizona State University

Earn guaranteed general admission to ASU and to your MyPath2ASU® major of choice if all requirements are satisfied. (Some majors have additional or higher admission requirements.) 

General university admission is guaranteed upon successful completion of the following conditions:

• Completion of an associate degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA (nonresidents) or
• Completion of 24 or more transferable semester credits post-high school with a minimum cumulative transfer GPA of 2.50 and verification of high school graduation or the equivalent

NOTE: Some ASU colleges and schools have additional or higher requirements for admission into their majors. Students will also need to submit an Arizona State University admission application, including an application fee and other required documents, such as official college/university transcripts. MyPath2ASU® pathway programs are based on a minimum of 24 transfer credit hours; students with fewer than 24 credit transfer credit hours will need to meet the appropriate admission requirements. International students will need to meet international admission requirements.

Northern Arizona University

You will be offered admission to NAU as a transfer student if:

• You’ve completed the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) with a cumulative GPA of 2.5+ or
• You’ve completed an associate degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.0+

Note that with a completed IGETC, you will have fulfilled all of the lower-level requirements but not the junior- or senior-level writing requirement of the NAU Liberal Studies program. Without a completed IGETC, you are still eligible to apply appropriate credits toward your NAU degree.

Eastern Oregon University

If you have either an Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum Certificate (IGETC) or CSU General Education-Breadth Certificate (CSUGE) with a 2.25 GPA, you will be automatically admitted to EOU. Read more here.

The ADT Commitment is the Independent California College and University sector’s adaptation of the ADT pathway. While similar to the CSU ADT, there are also some differences due to the independent nature of the state’s nonprofit institutions:

Unlike CSU, AICCU institutions are not part of a system and each campus has its own admission and graduation requirements.

If an ADT transfer student meets all the requirements of admission to a participating institution, admission is guaranteed to that college as opposed to a system.

The ADT Commitment is:

• Guaranteed admission for the ADT students meeting admission requirements;
• Guarantees a minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter units will transfer;
• Guarantees the student starts with junior standing.

UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) 

The UCLA Transfer Alliance Program allows you to enhance your ability to transfer to UCLA at the junior level from a participating California community college. Students are certified by the honors program counselor/coordinator after completing the honors or scholars program at a participating community college. Applicants are given priority consideration for admission to majors in the College, as well as the Public Affairs and Education and Social Transformation majors at UCLA.

UCI Honors to Honors (H2H)

Honors to Honors is a partnership with a group of community colleges, where the community college honors director may nominate outstanding honors students applying to UCI for special consideration for selection for Campuswide Honors and for merit scholarships. A 3.7 GPA and successful completion of the community college honors program are required.

Honors Transfer Council of California (HTCC)

The GCC Scholars Program is a member of the HTCC, in which students completing the Scholars Program enjoy enhanced transfer consideration and other benefits at partner campuses. Benefits may include guaranteed or priority acceptance consideration, special scholarships, recognition of honors coursework as an indicator of academic rigor, and other academic, cultural, and social benefits.

The CCCP Scholars Program is a year-long UC Transfer Prep Program from Summer 2025 through Spring 2026. The goal is to motivate, inform and prepare California community college students to transfer to a bachelor degree-granting institution, including selective universities such as UCLA.

Benefits of becoming a CCCP Scholar:

• Personalized, intersectional peer advising from a current UCLA student
• Guidance on how to maximize academic programs at your community college
• In-depth information on the transfer and application process to the University of California
• Early exposure to UCLA resources and support programs
• Networking opportunities with UCLA faculty, staff, alumni, and current transfer students
• Exposure to research, university academic writing, pre-graduate program, and career exploration
• Invitation to exclusive webinars as well as transfer preparation activities and opportunities
• CCCP Scholars have a higher rate of admission to selective universities and might be eligible for special scholarships

To become a scholar, you must first apply and take part in one of our summer experiences at UCLA. Students do not pay to be a part of the program -- everything is free!

Note: Students must be California residents (including AB 540/undocumented students). International students who hold a current US Visa (F1 or other visa) are not eligible.
