If a student poses a danger to others

Call College Police immediately: ext. 4000 from any campus phone, or (818) 409-5911 from a cell phone. Save this number in your phone now.

If a student is disrupting your class

Protecting the learning environment for all students is part of your job as an instructor. You have the authority to set and enforce expectations in your classroom. Address disruption promptly so it does not affect the rest of the class.

1. You may ask a disruptive student to leave your classroom for two consecutive meetings of that section.
2. Contact the Dean of Student Affairs, Tzoler Oukayan (SC 204), the same day: 818-240-1000 ext. 5594 or toukayan@glendale.edu.
3. Only the Dean's office can start the process of removing a student from your class permanently.

Where to get advice, and who else to tell

If you have already asked a student to change their behavior and it has continued, contact the Dean of Student Affairs. You can also contact that office if you have questions about how to handle a particular discipline problem in your classroom. The staff there have handled a wide range of situations and can advise you on how to proceed.

Tell your Division Chair about any incident that involved the Dean of Student Affairs or College Police.
