COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE

Communities of Practice in the Higher Education LandscapeCommunities of Practice (CoPs) are a place for GCC colleagues to come together to share best practices with each other. Communities of practice are happening both online and in-person.

CoP areas of focus are informed by the core commitments of Glendale Community College and California Community College system-wide program goals and outcomes delineated in the California Community Colleges Vision for Success. In coordination with campus professional development leaders, content experts with proven results of improving student success and institutional effectiveness, GCC CoP facilitators/partners are hosting professional development programming that:

  • Fosters awareness or deepens understanding of GCC’s goals and priorities as outline in the Institutional Strategic Plan

  • Strengthens existing mindsets, habits, routines, or ways of working (i.e. pedagogical and/or technical skills) that will demonstrably impact student outcomes and equity goals

  • Provides opportunities for shared learning, networking and community building and development of actionable strategies and professional practices to effectuate change within the learner’s respective areas of influence; and

  • Identifies, develops and archives guidelines, tools, resources and/or other learning artifacts (i.e. videos, templates, FAQs, surveys, etc.) that provide greater understanding of ways in which to meet student-centered goals
